For all his oversimplifications and mistaken perceptions, Brooks is right that the middle and working classes do not like the direction in which the unelected managerial class has taken the country. That includes exporting solid industrial jobs to China, among other examples. Which is one very serious reason that they have supported Trump.

When I saw the headline I wondered if Brooks might argue that Jack Smith had put forward a problematic indictment, based on Trump's speech and thoughts. But no luck there. Obviously Brooks isn't giving up his place in the elite by expressing any trepidation about political persecution.
