Love the article and the insights but I take one exception to the very first sentence. Wherever did you get the idea that we have reached peak Musk Derangement Syndrome? I believe we have a long way to go. Spoiled , out of control children do not stop temper tantrums on their own accord. They stop either by parental action or wearing themselves out. I'm hoping for parental action, specifically, federal domestic terrorism charges, convictions and significant prison sentances.

Precisely. Children having a temper tantrum do not stop voluntarily. They either exhaust themselves or are stopped by a responsible adult. The former is very bad for all concerned; the latter is preferable. Let us pray that there are enough responsible adults to put a stop to this insanity before the spoiled children in our midst have an opportunity to burn the house down around their own ears.

If you overlap Cipolla's laws of stupidity graph with Paul Grahm's 4 quadrants of conformity, I think you will find Elon Musk in the top right quandrant of both. His intelligence benefits himself as well as others, and he is an independent thinker (the smallest of Grahm's groups)., who many times turn out to be correct. . It may well be that in the long run, Musk will be recognized on a larger scale as one of the good guys. I think Heinlin said something about the sin of an opinion being before it's time.
