When I encounter bad grammar, written or spoken, I'm not sure whether it stresses me, but one thing it does is immediately discount the intelligence of the offender. My judgement is rendered in context, however, and it is always harshest for the speaker/writer who has no excuse other than lazy disregard for proper grammar, is ill-read and attended government schools. I can forgive English as a second language folks, but my inner editor is terribly over-worked.
Ah so that's why it is so stressful when I have to review reports from the English as a second language folks.
And why the French always say, please don't try and speak French to me.
