Piece work may be promising. I'm not sure if they're doing it now but Toyoda, I think it was, that used to farm out wire harness build to obasan (Japanese for little old ladies.). Basically they'd give an obasan a build board, wires, etc. She's set it up in her carport, other little old ladies would come over, chat, drink tea or whatever while laying out, building, harnesses on the board. Toyoda would pick them up, test, and if all's right, pay by the piece and leave more wires etc.
